For families we can recommend either our Luxury Family Tented Suites or newly built Villas – Hippo Creek Villa or Rapids View Villa - for a comfortable stay with young children.
• RAPIDS VIEW & HIPPO CREEK VILLAS
Children of all ages are welcomed at Rapids View Villa and Hippo Creek Villa. In fact, these communal villas were carefully curated and designed with children, families and groups of friends in mind - to experience African luxury at its best.
Rapids View Villa consists of 2 family suites that can sleep up to 4 adults and 4- 6 children (depending on the ages of the children). The Villa includes an amazing entertaining space which is perfect for a group of friends or extended family. The children’s rooms are carefully curated to satisfy the needs of younger guests.
Hippo Creek Villa consists of twin suites and one family suit and can accommodate 6 adults and 2 children. The family suite offers a seamless connection between the main bedroom and children’s room and includes a private family lounge.
• LUXURY TENTS & LUXURY FAMILY TENTS
All ages are welcome at the Luxury Tented Suites. Sharing children discount is available – subject to the number of guests sharing a tent and the age(s) of the sharing child(ren).
Luxury Family Tents can accommodate up to 3 children – under the age of 12 years (sharing with adults) – in a smaller room adjoining the main bedroom area. This alcove is separated from the main area by a curtain and contains a bunkbed and one single bed.
Older children accommodated in their own tent will be charged the full adult rate (i.e., the first two occupants of a tent, regardless of age) whereafter the age-appropriate discounted sharing child rate(s) apply.
What to do?
Victoria Falls River Lodge is a paradise for children of all ages. No matter the weather, children can enjoy the amenities around their places of accommodation and the main lodge.
Firm favourites include an infinity swimming pool, plunge pool on each private deck, outdoor shower and/or bath and, of course, the all-important free WIFI in public areas.
Victoria Falls River Lodge’s young guests will also find books, board games and more on-site to enjoy and discover. Please also keep an eye out for our special artefacts at the various places of accommodation and the Main Lodge, which include a beautiful chess board.
The carefully prepared meals are a firm favourite and highlight at Victoria Falls River Lodge, for both parents and children. A children’s menu is offered at every meal, catering perfectly for the tastes of younger foodies.
Child minding services are available at an additional cost.
KIDS' ACTIVITIES (Included in the accommodation rate):
Game drives for children aged 8 years and older are included in the accommodation rate and promise to be an adventurous family activity. (Families wishing to take children aged 4 - 7 years on game drives during standard early morning/late afternoon game drive times will require a sole-use game viewer at an additional cost per drive.) The Junior Discoverer’s Drive is also free of charge, aimed at children aged 4 – 7 years old who are accompanied by at least one parent, subject to vehicle capacity.
Children aged 4 years and older are permitted on the standard River Cruises. Guests of all ages love this family activity and are mesmerized by the abundant wildlife and beautiful scenery of the mighty Zambezi River. (Children aged 1 - 3 years are not permitted on the river cruises or game drives.)
The Young Bushwhackers is another fun activity not to be missed, aimed at children aged 4 – 11 years old. The children are taken on a walk on the “wild side” with a qualified guide within the camp surrounds and riverbanks immediately in front of the lodge. Parents and siblings can also participate in the Young Bushwhackers’ fun.
We end off a busy day in the African bush, with an activity known as Fables by Firelight. All ages are welcome to listen to traditional tales from Africa whilst toasting tasty treats over a bonfire.
OPTIONAL EXTRAS (Available at an additional cost):
The minimum age for children accompanied by parents on Walking Safaris is 12 years of age. Walking Safaris are not always about spotting predators or big animals, but rather the little - often overlooked - things. All Walking Safaris are conducted by Licensed Professional Guides.
The minimum age for children accompanied by parents on a Fishing Safari is 4 years of age provided they have sole use of the boat. Fishing in the Upper Zambezi River by boat is an exhilarating experience and guests could catch anything from the coveted Tiger Fish to Barbel, Catfish or Cornish Jack. All Fishing Safaris are conducted by Licensed Professional River Guides and/or Boat Captains.
