Wild Zambezi is delighted to see that Luke and Suzanne Brown from Vayeni have included no less than seven Wild Zambezi network partners in a 2014 list of their favourite 13 safari camps and lodges in Zimbabwe!   Here are the relevant extracts from their article:-

Zimbabwe is home to some of Africa’s top camps and lodges and now is a fantastic time to visit them.  Being based in Zimbabwe we at Vayeni have the privilege of visiting and staying in many incredible spots around this amazing country.

Here we feature our favourite safari lodges for 2014 – those spots where wildlife abounds, location is pure, accommodation nothing less than superb and service impeccable.  We’ve tried to sum up each in just a few short sentences that you can remember them by easily.

We have not ranked them in any particular order because all have their own individual flare and brilliance.  Enjoy the read!

ZAMBEZI SANDS (Imvelo Safari Lodges)

Location:  Set in a remote part of Zambezi National Park. Victoria Falls is only an hour or two game drive or boat cruise away.

Why? A dream location under towering riverine trees, the gentle currents of the Zambezi within touching distance and all the luxury you could want with great game viewing too!

PIONEERS CAMP (Wild Frontiers)

Location:  Located mid-way on the river in Zambezi National Park with Victoria Falls not far away yet a safari on your doorstep.

Why?  Just the right mix of comfort and explorer-style living. It is exceptionally well priced ‘glamping’ for what you get.

CHANGA SAFARI CAMP

Location: In a private wildlife concession on the edge of Lake Kariba within Matusadona National Park

Why? Glorious scenes, spacious tented accommodation, delicious food and a combination of good land and water based safaris.

VICTORIA FALLS SAFARI LODGE  (Africa Albida Tourism)

Location: 4km from Victoria Falls, overlooking Zambezi National Park

Why?  Continues to stand the test of time by re-inventing itself, consistently winning awards for its accommodation and service.  They are right on the pulse and deserving of their international recognition.

ELEPHANT CAMP (Wild Horizons)

Location: On a private wildlife area, 15 minutes drive from Victoria Falls, the concession running along the edge of the Zambezi Gorge.

Why?  It speaks volumes when you can never get availability at Elephant Camp.  They’ve managed to get just about every single thing right!

BUMI HILLS SAFARI LODGE

Location: On a range of hills overlooking Lake Kariba in a private wildlife area

Why?  Arguably the finest views in the country.  The ideal place to relax, unwind and enjoy whilst still getting a proper wildlife fix from both land and water.

RUCKOMECHI CAMP  (Wilderness Safaris)

Location: On the edge of Mana Pools National Park in its own wildlife concession

Why? The location is one of the best on the Lower Zambezi and wildlife sightings are truly magnificent. We saw 24 wild dogs in one sighting in 2014 – not many places around that you can say you’ve had an experience like that.

The remaining six top safari camps and lodges in Zimbabwe which are featured on this list are outside Wild Zambezi's area of tourism focus.  But we list them here for interest:-

The Hide Safari Camp - Hwange National Park

Khulu Safari Lodge - Hwange National Park

Nehimba Safari Lodge - Hwange National Park

Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge - Gonarezhou National Park

Bomani Tented Camp - Hwange National Park

Pamushana - Malilangwe/Gonarezhou National Park
