Tafika Zambezi is a scenic fishing and safari destination with two separate camps in the heart of the Lower Zambezi Valley, situated in the Sapi Safari Area which is downstream from Mana Pools.

Sapi Safari Area has recently been converted solely to an ecotourism wildlife and fishing destination. The Zambezi River frontage at the lodge provides some of the most exciting and rewarding Tiger Fishing in the world.

The area also has exceptional water-based game viewing opportunities and boasts over 300 different Bird Species, including several ‘lifers’ such as the African Pitta, Narina Trogon and Pels Fishing Owl.

Tafika Camp accommodates 12 guests on an all-inclusive rate in luxury tented chalets set amid green lawns with breathtaking views of the Zambezi River, providing a perfect break from busy city life for time away with family and friends. The rooms have en-suite bathrooms and outside showers, and each has a unique view of the River which is the back drop for some unforgettable sunsets.

The shared central guest area consists of an open plan dining room, lounge and bar area, which flows through onto an extensive deck under the shade of huge Tamarind trees, providing a place perfect for social times, laughs and discussing the days ‘catch’ around the fire. A dip in the swimming pool also provides a welcome relief from the heat of the day.

Boat hire is included in the lodge rates (4 passengers per boat) inclusive of 50 litres of fuel per day.     Guests are requested to bring their own fishing tackle.  Alternatively, guests can bring their own boats (max of 5). Fuel and extra drinks are available for purchase.

Makombakomba Camp (previously known as Gombe), means "where the water runs". Situated on the banks of the Zambezi River downstream of Tafika Camp, Makombakomba offers a more secluded destination for 8 guests in 3 thatched lodges and 1 room situated off the central living area. Each spacious unit has a lavish open plan bathroom with a bathtub and private decking/seating area, overlooking the Zambezi below.

There is no cell phone coverage at the property, but a limited internet service is available.

Tafika Zambezi can be accessed by air or road –

By Air – Charter flights are available through Safari Air Services and will land at the Chikwenya Airstrip. Guests will then be transferred in an open game viewing vehicle to Tafika Zambezi (2 hour gamedrive en route).

By Road – During the dry season months, self drivers can access the camp by following the Chirundu Road from Harare. Guests are required to stop at Marongora and pay National Parks fees before entering the Parks area. A high clearance vehicle is required. Tafika Zambezi is roughly an eight hour drive from Harare.

Both camps operate during the dry season of the year (April - November) only, as access is not possible during the rains (Dec - March).
