Changa Safari camp is situated on a private concession in the famed Matusadona National Park on the shores of Lake Kariba. With its own 4.5 km of lake shore, you can realize the total raw African experience from tastefully furnished, fan cooled, spacious De Luxe East African-style tented suites, each with its own private deck and stunning views of the rugged Matusadona Mountains across the inland sea of Lake Kariba.
The camp consists of 6 double/twin deluxe tents and 2 family deluxe tents and can sleep up to 20.
The central guest area consists of a lounge / library, separate dining room, separate bar, infinity swimming pool and spacious deck, all beautifully appointed around a natural sandy beach.
Early morning tea/coffee is delivered to your tent at your appointed time, breakfast is served al fresco, and lunches and dinners are served around private tables or a large table for groups.
Electricity in the camp is delivered by a combination of generator and solar power. Internet service is available and there is limited mobile phone coverage. There is a daily laundry service.
Activities and excursions at Changa Safari Camp are focused on a true wilderness and wildlife experience. The National Park is a 'walker's paradise', and an early morning or late afternoon walk in the company of one of the camp's Professional Guides is an experience to savour. Explore the shoreline and the many tributaries and streams that feed the lake, or, for the more adventurous, follow well worn elephant trails into the mountain region. Alternatively opt for the more traditional game drive aboard customised game vehicles, or go fishing with an experienced fishing guide and try your hand at landing Kariba's famous fighting tiger fish.
And at the end of the day enjoy a refreshing 'sundowner' boat cruise whilst you marvel at the unequalled beauty of a lake Kariba sunset.
Changa Safari Camp can be accessed by air, water or road.
Air: Guests can now fly into Kariba from Harare or Victoria Falls from where they will be collected by a Changa representative who will transfer them into camp by boat (approx 45 mins). Charter flights are also available (minimum 2 persons), followed by a short boat/road transfer.
Road & Water: Self-drivers can access Kariba by tarred road from Lusaka or Harare. They will be met by a Changa representative at a specified harbour where they can leave their cars in secure parking and embark on a 45 minute boat transfer into camp. Guests may also use their own boats to access Changa.
